OVERALL PERSONAL PROJECT PROCESS REFLECTION
By the end of the Personal Project, I had improved multiple skills. Even though the journey was very challenging, the final results were satisfaction of completing the product, stress relief and an improved version of myself. Some skills I had improved were Reflective skills, Knowledgeable skills and Inquirer skills. Mainly, I had improved my communication skills as a Communicator.
Reflective – As one of the IB learner profile, being able to reflect on my process through my Personal Project has helped me in developing my understanding skills, noticing my strengths and weaknesses and also served as a motivational factor as I am well aware of where I currently stand. By completing tasks on my Action Plan and by gaining more information, I felt good about myself and there was a feeling of self-motivation within me motivating me to keep working harder. As I completed each task from the daily task sheet I set for myself, I ensured that I reflected on the different obstacles I faced during the completion of the tasks because reflecting from the previously made mistakes will help me realize what steps are needed to be taken in order to overcome it. Therefore, reflecting had helped me solve problems where I had previously made mistakes at.
Knowledgeable – To be able to create my product, which is a video, I needed to gather a lot of information. For this to be done successfully, primary and secondary research was conducted to gain maximum information and my general knowledge on this topic. By spending months researching for the best and most reliable information, my skills of being knowledgeable only became stronger.
Inquirer – To get my video successfully completed, I needed various subtopics included in it. I needed to inquire for the possible subtopics relating to the evolution of motor cars making sure the subtopics would keep the viewer watching and educational. To know what subtopics the viewers would want to learn about, I had to inquire with others and look into various websites, articles on what possibly they could be. All this inquiring skills really affected my studies in a positive way as I started to research more while studying which helped me get a better understanding of whatever I studied.
Communicator – Communication is a key element that is required for socializing with others. For my report, I had conducted secondary research by talking to my grandfather via zoom and meeting up with a mechanic in an automobile repair shop. These were two research methods as both these people are well educated in this topic, has experience working in the automobile field and are capable to answer most of my doubts. Previously I was more of an introvert. I used to play my role in being a communicator quite bad, I never used to contribute much in a conversation. However, this had drastically changed as I needed to talk way more while conducting secondary research. I needed to communicate clearly to get my doubts cleared and help them understand about my project. By the end of the project, my role in being a communicator had shown exceptionally improvement. I now usually start a conversation which I previously never used to do and I contribute much more in conversations than before.
